One of the things I’ve been working on in my (increasingly sparse) free-time is an interactive testing console for CakePHP. I had suggested in an email to the CakePHP mailing list that an interactive console for doing testing of Models would be good. While at php|tek I spent a lot of time with the CakePHP guys talking about this. Out of it came some more ideas (like the ability to test your routes) and they even implemented a console that spits out API information for you. Very cool stuff. So, I decided to do a little screencast demo of a very early alpha version of the interactive console. Hope you like it.
[Note: moved the screencast to be hosted on archive.org, so that may be responsible for slow loads and pauses in streaming]

You officially rock !
I really like what is going on with cake 1.2
Awesome! you just took CakePHP to the next level – eagerly waiting for more.. would particularly like to see how routes can be tested
TIA
This is very nice Chris. However, I am not to really understand how it can be put to use (okay fine that without writing some code I can see what a findAll() would return and how a relationship works. But, for a person who has done a lot of coding using cake, we already know this. Can you shed more light on the usage of this?
I would be very interested to see how it spits out API information.
Nevertheless, this is really good work. Please continue to post screencasts, they are much better than text posts
Thanks,
Mandy.
I can see “more” needed for $Foo->findAll() when it returns 100 record. So this might be feature to think about ( if it’s not already there )

Very cool Chris, I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you’ve got up your sleeve on this project. I’ll have to see a little more of where you’re going with this before I can give you any relatively good feature ideas, but I’m off to download the new version of Cake 1.2 right now. Keep up the good work!
